Music Curriculum Framework

I. Students understand and participate in the process of musical performance. For example, students sing or play on instruments a varied repertoire of music, alone or with others.

II. Students develop vocal and instrumental technique necessary for indvidual and group musical experience.

III. Students develop musical literacy and independence through the learning of rhythm, melody, harmony, symbols and terminology.

IV. Students engage in musical interpretation, improvisation, and composition.

V. Students develop a historical understanding of music utilizing materials which represent diverse musical and cultural style.

VI. Students develop the ability to make aesthetic judgements based on critical listening and analysis.
