A Message from Our Principal

Dear Students and Parents,

Our entire staff is committed to making sure that each and every one of our students has a successful and rewarding year with us.  We are determined to meet the academic, social, and emotional needs of the students we serve and to working with the parents and guardians of our students to ensure that happens.

During the 2008-2009 school year we made strong academic growth.  Centennial scored the highest it ever has on the state administered CSAP tests for third, fourth, and fifth grades combined.  Our academic growth in reading, writing, and math, as measured by the Colorado Growth Model, was above the state median in 31 out of 33 categories.  Using the same measure for the same content areas, our median growth was better than the district median average in 23 out of 33 categories and was the same in another four.  Our students made very strong growth last school year and we are very proud of the hard work they and our staff did together to make that happen.

We expect to continue to improve the academic achievement of each and every one of our students.  Our main goals, which we fully intend to achieve, are that every student makes at least a year's growth in each content area during the course of the school year and that we raise the overall achievement levels at each grade level as measured by the district and state assessments our students take.

We take our commitment to improving our students' academic achievement very seriously.  We also are very proud of the learning community that has been created and maintained at Centennial for our students, parents, and staff.  Centennial has a caring, student focused staff and we believe that for children to be successful academically we need to have a safe, caring, and nurturing school for them to come to each and every day.  Our students are happy to be here and we want to keep it that way.

For those of you who may not be familiar with our community, Centennial is a true neighborhood school located in the Westlake area of Broomfield.  We currently serve approximately 510 students in grades kindergarten through fifth while there are an additional 25 students in two pre-school classes.  Our school includes students with diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds in twenty-three classes.  We offer both half-day kindergarten as well as a tuition based all-day kindergarten class.

Every student attends art, music, and physical education on a rotating basis.  We offer numerous extra-curricular activities and opportunities for our students and I encourage you to take a look at the Extra Curricular section of the menu.  Our Centennial Parent Teacher Organization is very active and both our students and staff benefit from their continued support.

Please feel free to call or email me with any questions or concerns you may have.  I may be reached at 720-972-5283 by phone and my email address is warren.rudkin@adams12.org
