1st Grade

We are very excited to begin the 2018-2019 school year with all of you. We will be applying the growth mindset to everything that we do. Nothing is impossible, we just have to apply ourselves to improve our performance and understanding of concepts across the curriculum. We may not know how to do something, but we will always add the word YET to the end of that sentence because we can do anything if we put our minds to it.

We will be thinking deeply about literature, discussing the author's purpose and analyzing the major events in stories. First graders will be writing detailed narratives about their lives, opinion pieces, informational texts and more. In Social Studies we will learn more about ourselves through the lens of our families, traditions and geography.  During Science we will explore plants, the states of matter, and rocks. Of course, our students will continue to develop their friendships and social skills through classroom teambuilding activities, morning meetings and weekly Second Step socioemotional lessons with our school counselor.

With your help and involvement, this year will be a fulfilling and memorable experience as all of our students develop into life-long learners.  Please join us on our journey!
