Welcome back to Centennial Elementary!
We are so excited to meet you and get started on this amazing journey. We feel confident that if we stay connected and work together, great learning will take place. We are thrilled to introduce Taylor Troisi to the first grade team. Please make her feel welcome.
The first few weeks of school will focus on building community and teaching our young learners how to log on and navigate the remote learning platforms. We will be using Schoology and SeeSaw during remote instruction.
We understand that you will have many questions and we are here to support you. ClassDojo will continue to be our primary mode of communication. The best way to connect with your child's teacher will be via ClassDojo or email. Make sure to set up your ClassDojo account with the school and all of your students' teachers as soon as possible. If you need to speak to a teacher on the phone, please send them a message and they will call you back at their earliest convenience during school hours.
Please be patient and give everyone plenty of grace as we navigate this uncharted territory.

These are the expectations for remote learning in first grade:
Learning Area: Please find a desk or table where your student can work without distractions. Please do not use a bed as a workspace. Make sure the Chromebook or device is charged and ready to use every morning. Keep a box with required materials in the learning area for easy access.
Materials: Charged device (plugged in, if possible), student folder, notebook, pencils, eraser, pencil sharpener, crayons, headphones (if available) your distance ducky.
*We will hand out supplies and duckies at Back to School Night.
Student Behavior Expectations (Norms): Please be on time and dressed for school. Students may not be playing video games or doing other activities during instructional time. Please do not eat during instruction. Make sure your microphone is muted unless you are asked to speak. Behavior expectations are the same as if you were in school. Raise your hand to speak and always be respectful.
Parent Norms: Please ensure that your student is dressed and ready to work in their learning area by 8:00am each morning. Please make sure that you are not speaking in the background during our class time. Please do not participate or assist students with academics during instruction time. (Please DO help them with logging on and technical issues.) Remember that students can see you in the background.
