Books and Technology @ your Library
Books & Technology @ your library
September was incredibly busy in the library! We have checked out 4,918 books and magazines already! Students and classes are following a regular checkout schedule now. Most classes are coming in for a weekly checkout, plus some students come to the library on an assigned day with a small group. Remember all books and magazines are checked out for two weeks!
In the tech realm, our 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th graders have all logged into their Google accounts. Their Google drives, include Google slides, Google docs, Google sheets and G-mail for 3rd-5th graders, and can be accessed from any computer. Ask your student to show you how access their Google drive!
In addition, 3rd, 4th and 5th graders have learned how to access our Destiny online library catalog. They can find books by subject, author and title and can determine how long they are, the reading level, as well as read reviews of the book. Destiny Quest can be accessed from home, so sit down with your child and look for good books to checkout from our library.
Technology is not limited to the older kids! Kindergarteners have had their 1st lesson in the computer lab on technology skills, such as the parts of the computer and learning to use a mouse. They will be coming into the computer lab every other week to learn new skills, including coding. 1st graders have also been using technology. Not only have they been using their classroom computers and iPads, but they have also learned the proper care of a Chromebook and learned how to login to access Waterford and Pebble Go. Ask your student what they have learned.
We look forward to seeing everyone enjoying a book and using technology @ your library!
