Math
Unit 6 is “Addition Fact Strategies”
We will be focusing on:

Using strategies to solve addition facts

Doubles (3+3, 2+2), near doubles (3+4, 2+3), and making 10

Exploring time to the hour on an analog clock

Understanding equivalence (2+2=3+1)
At home, families can:
-
Ask your student to solve basic addition problems (ex: 7+3=? Or 10+5=?)

Provide your student a two digit number and ask them how many tens and ones are in that number? (ex: 58 - 5 tens, 8 ones)

Continue to practice solving doubles number stories (2+2, 5+5, 8+8, etc.) and finding combinations of ten

Ask students comparison questions (ex: Is 78 greater than, less than, or equal to 100?)

Counting up and back to subtract

Finding unknowns in a number sentence (?+1=5, 2+?=10, 6+2=?)

Attributes of 2-D shapes (How many sides? How many corners?)

Exploring digital clocks
At home, families can:

Ask your student to solve basic subtraction problems (7-2=5. 10-1=9, etc.)

Provide your student a number sentence with a missing number (?+5=9 or 10-?=6)

Ask your student to point out and name shapes in their environment. How many sides? How many corners?

Have your student practice reading the time on a digital clock
