Second Grade

In second grade at Centennial, it will be a year full of learning and fun!  We want students to grow in all areas, including reading, writing, math, and so much more.  For reading, we are using Benchmark Advance, which is a challenging and engaging literacy program. Students are learning reading and phonics skills that will help them in all areas. In Math, we use Everyday Math 4 to teach math concepts. Also, we support our students' social/emotional growth in many ways. Our Second Step program teaches growth-mindset, positive coping skills, empathy, and resolving conflict. Everyday students work in small groups and with peers, learning to be kind and respectful to each other. In addition, students are learning responsibility with their own learning.  They are able to share the learning targets/success criteria, reflect on their learning, and create goals to further their learning. We are so proud of our second graders at Centennial and all that they will accomplish this year!  Go Raptors!!
