A New Poet at Centennial Elementary

A new poet image

On National Public Radio, author Kwami Alexander reads a poem every week.  He read the poem "I Dream A World" by Langston Hughes in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr.  Then he asked listeners to send in a poem that had "I dream a world" as part of it.  Mr. Alexander chose lines from various poems he had received to create a crowd-sourced poem, to read on the air.  One line by Jaqueline O., a 1st grader, was selected to be in the poem.

Here is her poem:
"I dream of seeing foxes walking in a field.  I would like to walk with them."

They read the poem on the air!

We are very proud of Jaqueline!
