Building skills and belonging at Centennial

Over the summer, Centennial Elementary welcomed select 3rd and 4th grade students for a two-week summer learning and belonging program designed to build academic skills, social connections and creativity.

Students participated in hands-on activities across engineering, math, art, and science, including collaborative LEGO challenges, graphic novel creation, and themed science explorations such as Around the World, Superheroes, Under the Sea, and Solar Energy.

The program had a dedicated team of teachers, support staff, and Principal Geneanne Payne providing guidance and oversight. With a low adult-to-student ratio of 1:7, the program ensured personalized attention and support.

Each day the program offered opportunities for teamwork, self-expression, and problem-solving, helping students strengthen their sense of belonging in the school community. The program successfully combined learning, creativity, and connection, leaving participants energized and inspired for the upcoming school year.

Special thanks to the Centennial Elementary community for submitting this Five Star Story.
