Centennial focuses on fostering family connections

Centennial Elementary fosters meaningful family connections through their Spirit of Giving Challenge, introduced by the Community Engagement Council. During this initiative, staff members are encouraged to make at least one positive, personal contact with a parent or guardian. Interactions must be face-to-face or over the phone and focus on recognizing and celebrating the student’s strengths or contributions. To ensure inclusivity, staff are supported with translation resources for non-English-speaking families. Progress is tracked via a staff lounge grid, with a collective goal of 100 positive contacts by December 19. As an added incentive, participants are entered into a prize drawing, with chances increasing based on the number of completed contacts. This initiative highlights Centennial’s commitment to strengthening family-school relationships by celebrating students and engaging families in meaningful ways.
