Dear students and families,
I am excited to continue this new journey of learning with our students. We are moving through something that most of us have not seen in our lifetimes and we know there will be a learning curve, as we forge ahead. I hope that you and your families have been safe during our time apart and I am ready to reconnect with you and your child(ren).
Miss Nina, Mrs. Mason and I will be providing 45 minutes of English language instruction every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday via Zoom. You child's teacher will remind them when it is time to log in to one of our classes. Every Wednesday will be asynchronous learning. Students will have a chance to log into BrainPop for ELLs or there may be an occassional activity posted to that page. Also, if you every have any questions, please feel fee to email us or contact us on Class Dojo.
We will all be new learners together, as we move ahead to best support our kids. Please know that we are so appreciative of your help and support during this time.
Mrs. Bender's Bio:
I am very excited to serve as Centennial's additional half-time ELD teacher for the 2020-2021 school year. I have worked in the District since 2000 in several capacities including classroom teacher, District Language Acquisition Specialist, and ELD teacher. I actually retired in 2017 but missed students and the profession, so when the opportunity presented itself to join the Centennial staff, I jumped at it. My teaching career began in 1989 after earning my Bachelor's degree from Metropolitan State University, a Master's degree from the University of Colorado, Boulder, and finally an English Language Endorsement from Regis University. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my husband, two adult children and my son-in-law. I am looking forward to an exciting year at Centennial Elementary!
